Overview

SASE, or Secure Access Service Edge, is a framework that combines networking and security functions into a single cloud-based service. It was coined by Gartner in 2019 and aims to address the changing needs of modern enterprises by integrating Wide Area Networking (WAN) capabilities with comprehensive security features.

Key components of SASE

01

Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN): This provides a way to connect different parts of a business network over long distances in an efficient and flexible manner.

02

Secure Web Gateway (SWG): This protects users from accessing malicious websites and enforces security policies on internet traffic.

03

Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB): This helps monitor and control cloud services usage, ensuring compliance and security policies are met.

04

Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA): This ensures that no user or device is trusted by default, even if they are inside the network perimeter. Authentication and authorization are required every time access is requested

05

Firewall as a Service (FWaaS): This provides firewall capabilities delivered as a cloud service, offering scalable and flexible security

06

Centralized Management..

The benefits of SASE include improved security posture, reduced complexity, and better performance for remote and mobile users. It is particularly useful for businesses with a distributed workforce and a reliance on cloud services.
